Sellman Award
Purpose
The Sellman Award recognizes an eighth grade student from the SHAA Soccer and Basketball programs that has demonstrated overall sportsmanship and the same exemplary qualities, which so characterized the life of Scott Sellman.
Background
Scott Sellman, whose father was the first president of the SHAA, attended Sacred Heart School and actively participated in the SHAA sports programs. While not the superstar or team MVP, Scott consistently demonstrated enthusiastic team spirit and good sportsmanship. In 1982, while in his freshman year at Calvert Hall, Scott died suddenly. This award was created as a lasting tribute, by those who knew and loved Scott, to recognize athletes at SHAA who best typify his qualities. Hence, the spirit and intent of the award is not to acknowledge the best player or athlete on the team but rather is an award recognizing character.
Award/Recipients
The SHAA Basketball program may choose one 8th grade boy and one 8th grade girl:
The SHAA Soccer program may choose up to two 8th grade boys and two 8th grade girls:
