My program is Sold Out. What can I do?
If your program is already Sold Out, that means both the program and waitlists are full. One thing you can do is to Volunteer as a Coach or Assistant Coach for that program. There is no guarantee that this will open up the registration for your child; however, for many of our programs, the biggest constraint on size is the number of volunteers available.

My child is on a wait list. What does that mean?
A program may have a maximum number of players allowed for registration. There may be a waitlist established which is normally equal to the size of an additional team. As registration fills and the registration period draws to a close, the coordinators will determine the best way to accomodate the waitlist by expanding existing team roster sized or adding another team. Players on the wait list will be added on a "first registered, first placed" basis.

Does SHGSC hold player try-outs? Are evaluations the same thing?
SHGSC hosts try-outs for our travel teams and player evaluation for non-travel teams.
For the Travel programs, players must attend try outs so they can be evaluated by the coaches. The players will be selected at the end of the process. Once selections are complete, any player who isn't selected to play travel will be invited to play in-house. Children trying out for travel soccer are not guaranteed a position on a travel team.
The In-House programs holds evaluations and conducts player draft to build balanced competition among all teams. This is not a tryout. All U11 and U14 players must attend one evaluation. All players will be placed on a team.

When will my child's team practice and play their games?
Team practice schedules are not finalized until the beginning of the Fall season. This is because SHGSC does not have final field allocations from Baltimore County Recreation Council until August.
Generally U-6 & U-8 programs play Saturdays between 9:00am & 1:00pm. They usually have one or two practices per week before the start of the season. Practices start in early August and the season usually starts the week after Labor Day and runs for 8 weeks.
The practice schedule for Travel and Non-Travel (U-11, U-14 & U-18) is determined by the coach and program coordinator. Typically, practices are two or three times per week before the start of the season and twice a week once games start. All Non-Travel games are typically on Saturday. Travel games depend on the league, they could be Saturday and/or Sunday.

I'm not receiving email notifications. What do I do?
If you are not receiving the automated email notifications about upcoming SHGSC events, it is usually for one of two reasons.
- When you set up your SHGSC Online account you did not Opt-in to receive the email notifications. To check this, log onto your My Account page and Edit the person that is the primary Guardian / Account Holder. At the bottom of the Account form is a checkbox. This should be checked to receive the email notices.
